After the Halloween arc, I retooled Glenda's design a little. I wanted to give her a look that is more casual and not a witch costume. She can still rock the hat from time to time, but I wanted to give her an update that allowed her to be in the daily strips and pass for a non-supernatural. I also wanted to write Harvey out of this arc since he showed up briefly at the beginning and he hadn't been "seen" since. This setup allowed me to have Glenda on her broom. I've wanted to have her appear with a flying broom basically since the start of the comic but things didn't really work as she had a much different role back then. In working on her character role for the Lizzy/Glenda situation it gave me the opportunity to finally bring in flying broomsticks. It's the little things that make me happy.
