This joke here is the reason I wanted to have the guys go around the world and do wacky things.
I knew I was going to have George constantly being a thorn in John’s side… and the ability for John’s dorkiness to screw over George was something I wanted to have happen.
When I was in college and living in an apartment with my buddy, Andy, we’d take walks to Burger King and the like…. I’d take routes that I knew had city bus stops so I could do the “I want the knife” spin to the bus route map thingy on a pole.
I laughed every time.
Andy laughed the first few times.

That’s awesome. Golden Child is such a great movie, and such a great reference to it in today’s strip. I have a feeling George is not going to let John forget about this, but turn abouts fair play and George has definitely put John in enough situations that it’s justified. Besides though, who could resist.
I still do the line on anything that revolves with a push, barber poles, wheels on my kids bike, etc. My wife laughs every time, but I’m starting to think it’s more of a “let’s humor him” type laugh. :)
It’s good to hear I’m not the only super nerd out there.
One of those movies I will always stop and watch if I happen upon it. This is the Eddie I remember. The slightly snarky, smart-assed, actually witty comedians of the 80’s are MY sense of humour. I love Fletch. I love Bill Murray. And damn it, I love Hudson Hawk!
Oh and, “Puke Face!”
Heh. I can’t seem to mention current movies in my comic… so I guess you’re at home w/ those tastes.
Oh lord, time to hit up Blockbuster. I haven’t seen The Golden Child in ages. Well done!
It’s been in rotation on some cable premium station lately. I saw it not too long ago.
I thought I was the only one to do that “I… I… I… want the knife” thing at bus stop map thingys. It never stops being funny. Especially when you’re bored as hell waiting for the bus.
I’d just do it as we’d pass by.
Guess it’s a dork thing.
you can never go wrong with a Golden child reference.
Thanks
