Okay, this strip is probably only funny to comic book nerds… but, I’m fine with that.
I’ve had this idea since the second week of Zombie Roomie, but, I wasn’t sure how to fit it into four panels… In the end we decided it really needed to be a double-sized strip to do it justice.
In addition to waiting on figuring out the best way to do the strip, I’m glad I waited to do it as it looks a lot better than it would have if I did it that early in Zombie Roomie’s history… as I have gotten better at drawing the characters and I’ve figured a few tricks out along the way.
Yeah, I based the poses in the bottom two face off panels off of famous drawings, I wanted to have them reenact those poses for an authentic feel.

I’ve read this strip a few times, I like to go back and see them again a few times to look for subtle things. One thing my mind continues to go to is how much George looks like Abe Sapien from Hellboy in his Iron Man costume. I just can’t get that image out of my head….sorry George, I’m sure you’re a studly zombie and all but when I see you in that costume I think of Abe Sapien. Please don’t eat me…please.
Hrm. I don’t see it myself, but, I do own a Mignola book on “The Art of Hellboy”.
There’s a youtube video regarding this, I believe. Very funny :D
I hadn’t seen anything similar before. Guess great minds think alike.
That’s awesome John. I think I remember that in my new History book Disney just released. :) You did a great job on the strip man, sorry it took me so long to comment don’t send George after me, I promise I’ll do better next time….aaahhh….he’s here, he’s already here…call him off…
Thanks.
There are some strips I do that I put a ton of time into them and think they’re pretty slick and nobody says a word and I’m fine with, but, then others like today’s where nobody said anything and I was forced into artistic self esteem issues.
I’m sitting over here going, “Nobody likes it, I’m a failure” rocking back and forth.
I guess I need to do more strips w/ John in his tighty whities… people comment on those.
Having actually been exposed to that, I think I speak for everyone when I say, “The less we see of John in tighty-whities, the better.”
We gotta do something to get folks talking. If it takes threats of undies… I’m not adverse to it.
